As a child, I learned at an early age how to make friends. As a teenager in middle school I had a large circle of friends. This became a valuable tool for me later on.
After leaving Iraq in mid seventies and moving to the U.S. , my main objective was to built a new life in the land of opportunities. I was always involved in our Assyrian community both here and overseas. However, initially, it was only on the social level. It was my exposure to Zowaa and Assyrian Aid Society members, the likes of Dr. Lincoln Malick in 1995 coupled with the news from Atra about the condition of our people, that gave me a different view of our nation.
We are a divided nation, both geographically and politically. With this reality in mind, it is obvious that we are doomed unless we work to change that.
It is an honor to be part of the Assyrian Aid organization.

"My father was always involved in social/educational/humanitarian organizations and efforts. He was a big supporter of the AAS and instrumental in establishing the AAS-A medical program. Following in his footsteps, I started supporting the AAS from its establishment, and witnessed its growth into a unique Assyrian humanitarian organization which true to its mission, serves the needs of the Assyrian people irrespective of their religious, social, tribal, or political affiliations. This is an amazing feat for our battered and divided nation, and sets a gold standard for other Assyrian humanitarian organizations. I hope to see the AAS continue to grow and have sister organizations in all of the Middle Eastern countries to serve Assyrians in need throughout the region."

"The success and achievements of any organization is a reflection of the quality of its members. In the more than one decade of my involvement with the AAS-A, I have had the pleasure of working alongside capable, dedicated professionals willing to sacrifice their time, effort, and money to help fellow Assyrians in need. AAS-A has made a significant impact in the lives of thousands of Assyrians all over the world and this has been achieved with minimal resources. Although we have encountered numerous obstacles and disappointments along the way, we have been able to press forward with our rightous objectives. It is no wonder that the Assyrian Aid Society of America has achieved a distinguished reputation among Assyrians all over the world as the single most trustworthy and dependable Assyrian Humanitarian Organization in the world. I am proud to be a part of such an organization."

"Poverty and dire need is no stranger to me. All along, I fought my way through despair to fulfill a dream of mine, the dream of being able to make difference for those who are less fortunate, particularly my Assyrian fellows, who are left alone in their struggle for existence in their own homeland. To my dismay, despair seems to be always a step ahead of me even after I became a surgeon. Between religious schisms, and political rivalry, our Assyrian resources have been shattered, and with it, our hopes as a nation have been sent astray more than ever. AAS-A is a long waited for organization, to which each and every Assyrian can reach out irrespective of their affiliations, setting the stage for a new era in Assyrian activism. AAS-A has simply led our nation by example, and I am proud to be part of it."

"I am actively involved in helping my community I jointed the Assyrian Aid Society of America (AAS-A) since its inception. I was President of the Chicago Chapter of the AAS-A from 1997 to 2000. I am very impressed of how the Assyrian Aid Society evolved and I am hopeful of the newer generation who are joining this wonderful organization. The current situation of our Chaldo/Assyrian/Syriac nation at this time of history is desperate, and demands attention not only from our community but from the entire world."
