Assyrian Education System: Bahra School in Semel

AASA Weekly Television Program

Mondays at 7 pm Pacific Standard Time

Watch us on www.anbsat.com or broadcast: Galaxy19, TP17 12022V 22000.

Bahra School in Semel, one of the Assyrian Aid Society's primary schools in north Iraq, teaches over 170 students. Join us tonight as we visit Bahra and discuss the Assyrian education system with some of its dedicated educators who encourage their students to excel academically despite the ongoing crises in the Middle East. Even with the country's instability and the obstacles created by Iraqi Kurdistan, AAS ensures that the schools continue to provide a sense of safety and routine for the children today with the hope of peace in the future.

Oneil, a student from Bahra, said he learns four languages in school , including Assyrian, Arabic, Kurdish, and English; of the four, the Assyrian language is his favorite. Some of the other students dream of becoming teachers one day, a dream that will welcome new educators in the near future.

AAS-A and AAS-Iraq continue their responsibility of supporting the Assyrian education system in Iraq. To help make these children's educational journey a little less complicated and a lot more enjoyable, become an Assyrian Aid Society of America Lifeline Pledger.
